From Literacy to Livelihoods… Creating Lasting Impact

Dear Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors and Friends of Rotary,

September has come to an end, and what a month it has been!
It was a month of service, growth, fellowship and collaboration across District 9111. As we marked Basic Education and Literacy Month, our clubs turned Rotary’s commitment into action through impactful projects that supported education and touched lives across our communities.

Our Joint Basic Education and Literacy Seminar with District 9112 was another reminder of what we can achieve when we work together. Across the District, we celebrated several club installations, strengthened fellowship through our Evening with the DG, and proudly welcomed four new Rotaract clubs into our growing Rotary family.

And the growth did not stop there. Our membership continued to increase, while your contributions to The Rotary Foundation continued to strengthen our capacity to do good in the world.

For all of this, I say a heartfelt thank you. To our clubs, Presidents, District officers, Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors and every individual who gave their time, resources and energy, you made September happen.

The month also brought a moment of sadness with the passing of Rtn. Pa Oremosu at the age of 90. We celebrate a life of service and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and the entire Rotary family. May his soul rest in peace.

Now, we move into October, Community Economic Development Month. From literacy, we move to livelihoods: empowering people, creating opportunities and helping communities build sustainable futures.

October also brings an important Rotary responsibility. Our Polio Boat Regatta holds on 17 October, ahead of World Polio Day on 24 October. I urge our clubs to participate, create awareness and continue supporting Rotary’s commitment to a polio-free world.

And then comes November, a major month for District 9111.
The All Nigeria Rotary Peace Summit holds on 7 November, bringing Rotarians and key stakeholders together to advance conversations around sustainable peace. Our Mega Medical Mission will take healthcare directly to thousands in our communities, while the West Africa Project Fair presents an invaluable opportunity for our clubs to showcase projects, meet international partners and build collaborations that can transform our communities.

Then, on 21 November, we gather for our Rotary Foundation Dinner and Dance, an evening of fellowship, celebration and giving in support of the Foundation that makes so much of our work possible.

My call to every Rotarian is simple, Register. Participate. Mobilise your club. Invite others. Support the programmes and show up in strength.
September has shown once again what is possible when we work together. Let us carry that energy into October and beyond, growing Rotary, supporting our Foundation, serving our communities and turning our plans into measurable impact.

Together, we will CREATE LASTING IMPACT!
